The Fo Guang Shan He Hua Temple lies on Zeedijk (sea dike) which is a road on the edge of Amsterdam's red light district. It cost over 4 million Euros and was completed in 2000. The name derives from the Buddhist sect Fo Guang Shan and He Hua which means Lotus Flower. It is the biggest Buddhist temple in Europe built in the traditional Chinese way.
Entry is free and it is open noon to 5pm Tuesday- Saturday and Sundays 10am to 5pm.
