Paris red light districts, hotels & top tourist attractions

A look at the three red light districts (Quartier rouge) in Paris plus a few of the mainstream attractions. Select from the photos on the left.
Paris has three main areas of adult entertainment similar (in a grander way) to London's Soho with a mix of adult shops and shows and a good chance of getting ripped off if you're not careful.
In the north is the glitzy Boulevard de Clichy with it's world famous Moulin Rouge. Fairly central is Rue Saint-Denis which runs down towards The Seine with adult shops and streetwalkers. To the south near the Montparnasse Tower is the little known Rue de la Gaîté. Here you will find a few more adult shops nestled between a wide range of restaurants.
I have also included a few mainstream tourist attractions like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe. In addition there is a Paris map showing these locations along with 60 hotels and hostels with information links.

Paris is a large spread out city and I strongly recommend that visitors purchase a carnet. This is a group of 10 metro tickets costing around 13 Euros. You can get these at the counter or from a ticket machine. Each allows you a single journey on virtually any metro line.
Watch out for pickpockets and scammers. In the tourist hotspots (especially around the Sacre Coeur) guys will grab your hand (or your child's) and tightly tie on a string bracelet before demanding money for it. An easy rule to follow is never take anything from a stranger or let them touch you (shake your hand etc). Don't sign any sort of partition and if a stranger speaks to you watch out for an accomplice trying to rob you.
