Amsterdam's Red Light District: Bloedstraat

Bloedstraat 14 and 12, Amsterdam red light district (De Wallen / Walletjes / De Rosse Buurt). Copyright: George 2011
The infamous Bloedstraat (Blood Street) is said to be named after blood used to run down the street during executions at Nieuwmarkt. Nowadays it is more known for the blue lights indicating that most of the working "girls" are not girls at all! The windows in the above picture though are shared so unsuspecting visitors may or may not get a surprise.
Photo taken October 2010.
